Maternity
Welcome
We provide a multi-award winning maternity service to residents of the London boroughs of Greenwich and Lewisham.
We are proud of our services and are absolutely committed to providing high quality maternity care for you and your partners during your pregnancy, labour and after the birth of your baby.
We regularly review our visiting guidelines to keep you, your baby, your supporters and families safe.
You can see our latest maternity visiting guidelines on our visiting times and guidance page.
About our maternity services
We provide care during pregnancy, labour and after your baby is born in our two hospitals: Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich and University Hospital Lewisham.
We also offer support during pregnancy and after your baby is born at our community sites in Lewisham and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.
Our maternity services are for people who live in Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley. We also welcome and support those who live outside these boroughs.
Your choice
We want you to be informed and supported when choosing where to have your baby.
If your pregnancy is straightforward and there are no known complications that may affect your pregnancy or birth, you can usually choose to give birth at home or in one of our birth centres.
If you are experiencing a complex pregnancy, you can choose to have your baby in one of our delivery suites where we can provide safe, high-quality care that meets your needs.
Our commitment to you
It takes a team to grow and deliver babies and we’re dedicated to being part of your team. We’re on your side and we will do our best to support you and care for you throughout your maternity experience.
At LGT, being part of a team comes with a responsibility to work together and respect each other. So, we’ve set out our promise to you, our women, and birthing people, so that you know what to expect from us. And, what we need from you in return. This is our commitment to you.
Cultural Humility Survey
We want to ensure that everyone receives high quality care during and after pregnancy, regardless of their cultural background. Your feedback will provide valuable information to help us provide the best possible care to all our patients.
