LEEP pulmonary rehab is a course available for adults over 18 with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and some other breathing problems. Our Lung Exercise and Education Programme (LEEP) is a six week programme of exercises and education.

About the service
Pulmonary Rehabilitation at University Hospital Lewisham is an exercise and education course for adults over 18 with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other breathing and lung problems. We see patients in Lewisham and throughout south east London.
Our programme, Lung Exercise and Education Programme (LEEP), is a six-week programme of exercises and education. Classes take place in a relaxed and supportive environment and are around 2 hours twice a week, with 12 sessions in total.
The first half of our course focuses on exercise in groups of mixed abilities. Exercises are chosen and matched to your level and ability.
The second half of the course coveres group education, support and discussion. It’s a chance to ask questions to our experts to help increase your knowledge of how to look after your lung health.
Pulmonary rehab is more than exercise; it is here to help you breathe easier, get stronger, and feel more confident.
How to get a referral
You can be referred by your GP surgery doctor or nurse. You can also be referred by your respiratory team, hospital doctor, nurse or physiotherapist.

Referrals
We can see people who:
Have a confirmed diagnosis of a stable chronic lung condition such as COPD
Are motivated to attend classes in a group setting
Have confirmed diagnosis of COPD and have been discharged from hospital
or virtual ward after a flare-up
Any who has completed pulmonary rehab 12 months ago and would like to return
For healthcare professionals
